W11517331 Whirlpool Burner Control Knob for Ranges, Fixes a Cracked, Broken or Slipping Knob
W11517331 is a genuine Whirlpool stainless-finish surface-burner control knob. It replaces discontinued Whirlpool part numbers W10850027, W11117415 and W11458840.
The knob fits over the surface-element switch shaft and allows the user to turn the burner on, select a heat setting and turn it off.
Replace the knob when its centre hub is cracked, the knob slips on the shaft, the markings are worn or the original knob is missing.
A knob that turns without changing the burner setting may also indicate a damaged surface-element switch shaft. Inspect the shaft before ordering. The knob and surface-element switch are separate parts — replace the switch if its shaft or internal contacts are defective.
Confirm the complete range model, shaft shape, pointer orientation and knob finish. Similar-looking Whirlpool knobs may not be interchangeable — confirm the OFF-position pointer orientation before ordering. Sold individually — order the required quantity.
Is This the Right Part?
Fits select Whirlpool electric ranges. Confirm the complete model and OFF-position pointer orientation before ordering. Similar parts may use different shaft shapes, pointer directions or finishes.
Common Symptoms
- Knob centre hub cracked, chipped or broken
- Knob slipping on the switch shaft — will not hold position
- Temperature or heat markings faded or illegible
- Knob melted, warped or discoloured from heat exposure
- Knob loose, wobbling or falling off the shaft
- Original knob missing
Check Before Replacing
- Inspect the switch shaft for cracks, wear, bending or heat damage — a damaged shaft will cause a new knob to slip in the same way as the original.
- Confirm the shaft shape matches — similar Whirlpool knobs may use different shaft profiles and will not seat correctly on a mismatched stem.
- Verify the OFF-position pointer orientation — W11517335 is a separate knob with a different pointer direction and must not be substituted.
- Confirm the knob finish — stainless, black and white versions are not interchangeable.
