Check Before Replacing
- Confirm the correct surface-element control is selected and check whether the affected zone produces heat while other zones operate normally.
- Check that the household circuit breaker/fuse and range or cooktop power supply are operational.
- Do not treat cycling or intermittent red glow alone as a failure: the limiter normally cycles a radiant element, including on HI. Remove cookware, allow the cooktop to cool for 30 minutes, and retest if it does not cycle back on.
- Before any internal inspection or electrical testing, switch off power at the circuit breaker and let the cooktop cool fully. Inspect accessible element/limiter terminals and wiring for obvious heat damage or loose connections; use continuity testing only with power disconnected and according to the model's service information.

A limiter-equipped radiant element may cycle on and off even at the HI setting, and portions of the cooking area may not glow continuously; this behavior is normal and helps protect the ceramic cooktop.
